What advice would you give to someone beginning their journey?
There are many reasons you are considering moving forward on this path. Take it in small bites, understand your goal, get counseling, seek advice and interact with others in the community. Be careful not to ruin relationships with family and friends. Be honest with your spouse or significant other but don't freak them out. Understand the potential outcomes of your actions and set boundaries based on not only how you feel, but a pace that keeps everyone around you protected and comfortable.
What's the most important thing the world should know about you?
I love to make friends and enjoy just hanging out with friends. When I do presenting "well" is really important to me. I mostly go for the girl next door look, (but at my age I guess I really only achieve "soccer mom"). If I can dress up, or need an outfit for an activity like "country line dancing", you bet I will try to attend, work a long time on my makeup, and have something nicely planned to wear.
Do you see yourself as a role-model?
I am not sure I am a role model, but I would certainly have been supportive of helping others achieve their personal goals. In VC, the ladies often sponsor candidates to join. If the candidate becomes a member, she becomes the "little sister" and the sponsor the "big sister". So far, no little sisters for me, but I am on the lookout.
Why would you recommend joining the Vanity Club?
You can adventure at conferences, local meetings, and the various social media sites, but at some point you will realize that there is no progress without building close friendships along this journey. If you are seeking that core group of relationships, want to be involved, and seek a community of friends, then find out about Vanity Club.
What does the Vanity Club mean to you?
This is a place that will become your next best group of friends because, no matter where you are on the "spectrum", someone in the VC has been there and will support you and your journey.
