Servant Hearts Helping Others

"I raise up my voice not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard" - Malala Yousafzai

I sat down close, without a word,
My arm draped 'cross her back.
I hugged her tight to reassure,
And saw a smile crack.

The little things can warm a heart,
can help a friend in need;
Can bring to them a fresh new start,
The smallest acts can breed.

A world of kindness that is fraught
with positivity;
You don't need much to give a lot,
and change a life in need.

Helping others can make you feel rewarded, fulfilled and empowered. It gives us both a sense of purpose and identity while helpuing us keep things in perspective. We leave the greatest imprint on the world by helping others. Giving Help is contagious--the effect can ripple through the community, inspiring dozens of individuals to make a difference. We sometimes do not realize the impact we have on others by doing even the smallest of acts. Don't ever let an action be stopped because you think you can only do a little - a little to you may be huge to others!

Members of the Vanity Club look for opportunities to donate their time, talent and energy in their communities. By being socially engaged, and by sharing our stories, we support and help each other. The Vanity Club believes that helping others is the foundation of strong friendships. Being a force for good in a friend's life helps build a lasting bond and leaves a trail of kindness for others to follow.

Personal Testimony from Members
I have been fortunate in my life and I have been trying to give back to the community as much as I can over the last few years. There are so many out there that need help getting out the door for the first time. I want to help and offer guidance and advice and a shoulder to lean on.

In an average year, I donate hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to help the Club and others like me. Earning appreciation has been a life goal, and giving has never felt so worthwhile.

Many sisters in the Vanity Club were very instrumental with my journey since more than 10 years before I became a member. I chatted with many on social media for years. Finally meeting them and talking with them was inspiring to say the least. I waited more than 5 years to join after meeting one member in person at a public conference. She was awesome to say the least! Thank you Vanity Club for what you have done for the community!

Vanity Club has provided me with the opportunity to help other transgender women, and to educate the general public about people like us. Someday, being transgender won't be stigmatized, and Vanity Club is helping bring that dream closer to reality.
